Delhi: The Indian Premier League match between Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium here Saturday was called off due to heavy showers.

Only 10.1 overs of the match was possible after Delhi Daredevils chose to bat. The home side was struggling at 56/3 when the skies opened up with Colin Ingram (13) and Venugopal Rao (0) at crease. It has been the same story for the Daredevils this season. The batsmen have failed to strike form.

Daredevils captain James Hopes decided to take first strike. David Warner (19) added 24 runs with Naman Ojha (8) before he was done in by a slow yorker from James Faulkner. Daredevils then lost Naman Ojha and Mathew Wade (11) and the script was taking a familiar turn when rain came as a respite for the home team. It was a woeful end to Daredevils' season. They won only four of the 14 matches.

The match was labelled as a fight to avoid wooden spoon as both Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors were out of contention and were battling out for the ninth and tenth position in the points table. With the match being called off, both teams split the points to finish at 9 points but it was Pune Warriors who nosed ahead on the basis of better run rate.

Despite the home team's poor run this season and the match of only academic interest, the fans turned out in good number. They even stayed back hoping the match to re-start, but in the end left disappointed.
