India fought hard despite not getting a big total and it was great to see the fight on the field. This young Indian team showed similar fighting character against England in the Champions Trophy final and this is what you want to see in a team. Any side will not win every game but it’s about fighting and competing hard which the Indians did.

West Indies were clever to prepare a pitch which did a bit in the start and they rightfully won the toss and put India in. They must have realised that they can’t control the Indian batting without which it’s very difficult to win matches against India. For the Indian batters, they will only get better as the tour progresses and though they struggled a bit in the last game, they will be a strong contender in this competition.

The West Indies are very good at home and once again they showed how they thrive in home conditions. The good sign for them is that Gayle didn’t fire and they still managed to win. This will give them lot of confidence and also take the focus off Gayle which will help his cricket.

For India they will have another game to play against Sri Lanka. India have dominated Sri Lanka enormously in the recent past and will go into this game with lot of confidence. They are also on paper a much stronger side and a lot more balanced in all departments. This is an important game for both teams because whoever loses will fall a bit behind in the race for final.

Sri Lanka will have to play a lot more positive then they have in the recent past. Unless and until their batters put runs on the board their medium-pace attack will not be able to restrict the Indian batting. They need somebody to give their batting a push because if Jayawardene and Sangakkara don’t fire, they lose momentum in either setting the tempo or chasing a total.

It was probably for the first time that Dhoni was not on the ground due to injury because in the past he has had minor niggles but still carried on. It will be interesting to see how the team shapes up without him in the eleven. The keeper’s slot will be filled up by Dinesh Karthik, but Dhoni’s quality batting at six and his captaincy is what India will miss and that can be a boost for Sri Lanka.
