India-England 5th ODI to start late: BCCI

London: The organisers of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been asked by England cricket chiefs to conclude the lucrative Twenty20 tournament by April 30 to make players more attractive to franchises.

The current schedule that clashes with the start of the international summer in England means players are only available for three weeks and therefore not attractive to franchises , the Mirror reports.

Keeping in mind their players' desperate need for more action with a mega auction scheduled next year, the England Cricket Board (ECB) has asked their Indian counterparts to consider the shift after the next two ICC global events.

According to ECB chief executive David Collier, the board wants the IPL to be concluded by April 30 which is in the cooler season for India as it will make it easier for England players to be available for that period.

Stating that the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI) is fully aware of the problem, Collier said that there is a willingness on the part of both boards to see if they can make any progress towards that.
