With the Euro 2012 just six months away, a degree of partiality has crept in, with England being asked to occupy a ramshackled Hutnik Krakow Stadium, while arch rivals, the Netherlands, have bagged the superb new 34,000-seat Stadion Miejski.

While the home of Polish Premier League champs Wisla Krakow, has huge changing rooms, gleaming showers, swish Jacuzzis and state-of-the-art medical facilities, the England training facility is full of rubble, poor showering facilities and pitches that have to be relaid.ccording to The Sun, Britain's Football Association picked Poland's Hutnik Krakow Stadium because the other options available to them were far worse.

The muddy, waterlogged pitch and rubble-strewn changing rooms are barely fit for a pub team, the tabloid reports further.

Hutnik's bosses say extensive renovation is under way and their pampered Three Lions' guests can look forward to five-star treatment when they arrive. But work has yet to start on laying a new pitch that is up to tournament standards.

There is little evidence of urgency at the stadium. A tubby security guard was seen puffing on a cigarette as he lounged in a grim concrete stand.

An FA source said: "It wasn't just a case of the first team to put their towels down got the best facilities. Uefa compiled an approved list of hotels and training grounds for us to choose from - but there was nothing suitable on it for England's needs." If we'd taken options from the list, we'd have ended up with worse facilities than Hutnik. At the end of the day, our options were limited, but we are confident we can make the best of the Hutnik ground," the source added.

The fourth division club, half an hour's drive from the England squad's Krakow hotel, insists it will have the work finished by June.

A spokesman said: "It's not much like Wembley at the moment. But you won't recognise the place by the time England arrive. It's a great honour for us to welcome superstars like Wayne Rooney to Hutnik and we'll make sure they are comfortable. Right now it looks a bit of a mess but it'll be very nice by next April. We're sure Mr. Capello (England coach) will be happy."

The FA is paying for the new pitch to replace Hutnik's tired surface. The Sports Turf Research Institute will install it. The FA and the city of Krakow will jointly fund the rest of the revamp. (ANI)
