Former South Africa opener and India coach Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the head coach of Delhi Daredevils. The 45-year-old will work with mentor TA Sekar and fellow South African Eric Simmons.
Delhi finished at the bottom of the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Kirsten has had tremendous success with Team India, helping the Men in Blue to win the 50-over World Cup in 2011. He since took over as the coach of the South Africa team and in August 2012, coached the team when it beat England 2-0 to take over as the number 1 Test side.
Delhi Daredevils will now look for a boost from his experience and expertise with veteran players like Virender Sehwag, Mahela Jayawardene, David Warner and Kevin Pietersen in the side.
