Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has escaped a car crash while travelling from Manchester to London on Sunday.
The legendary batsman, who is in England now as a commentator for India's ongoing tour of England, was seated in a Jaguar on the left side of the back seat along with his friend Chandresh Patel and fellow commentator Mark Nicholas.
A vehicle coming from the opposite side caught Gavaskar's driver off guard and a late manoeuvring avoided a head-on clash but could not avoid the collision. The impact of the hit was on the side where Gavaskar was seated. Despite the Jaguar taking a severe hit following the collision, all the passengers inside were luckily unhurt.
"My God! God has saved us. There was torrential rain and our car was being driven very fast. Thankfully, no one was hurt although the accident was very, very scary," Gavaskar was quoted as saying by Mid-day.
