England manager Roy Hodgson has assured Manchester United striker Rio Ferdinand that he has a future in the England team, despite he being omitted from the Euro 2012 squad.

Even as Ferdinand raised a stink over his omission from the Euro squad, Hodgson has reportedly texted the player to assure him he wants him to be a part of his future plans.

According to the Daily Mirror, he has also made it clear to the Football Association that the vastly-experienced Manchester United defender can still be a part of his World Cup qualifying campaign for Brazil in 2014, which begins in September.

Ferdinand, 33, had gone on a holiday to consider his international future, but it is believed that he does not want to walk away from international football.owever, the Ferdinand camp has serious doubts whether Hodgson will pick him again and can work together in the future.

Hodgson and the FA chose to stay silent on the issue on Monday after Liverpool reserve defender Martin Kelly was controversially called up to replace Gary Cahill, rather than Ferdinand.erdinand's advisor, Jamie Moralee, accused Hodgson and the FA of showing a "total lack of respect" and warned that the anger would have ramifications within the squad.
