New Delhi: Former Pakistan captain and legendary pacer Wasim Akram on Monday made it clear that he would only assist Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a  consultant and not as a full-time coach but promised to take "a lot of load off the captain's shoulder".

Akram, along with John Wright, Richard Pybus, Sandeep Patil and Praveen Amre, is in the running for the job left vacant by John Buchanan.

"It was quite a positive meeting. Ganguly, whom I know very well and have played a lot of cricket against, was also there," Akram said.
