Terrific spells by Indian bowlers in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Mumbai: Mumbai crushed Saurashtra by an innings and 125 runs to lift the Ranji Trophy for the 40th time at the Wankhede Stadium today.

Playing their maiden Ranji Trophy final, Saurashtra seemed overawed by the occasion and folded for a paltry 82 in their second innings, with Dhawal Kulkarni grabbing five wickets and skipper Ajit Agarkar four.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai were bowled out for 355 in their first innings.

With their two best players - Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja - being away on India duty, Saurashtra were no match for the hosts.

Mumbai too were missing the services of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane.

The final was notable for Wasim Jaffer breaking the records for most runs and most centuries in the Ranji Trophy.

The last time Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy was in 2010.
