India hit back after Strauss ton

England opener Andrew Strauss posted a composed century before India`s bowlers ran through the tourists` middle-order on day one of the first Test Thursday.

Strauss scored 123, posting his 13th century in 55 Tests, and shared a century stand with opening partner Alastair Cook (52) but England could not build on that foundation, and finished the first day on 229-5.
