The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) said that the team will be announced by the newly-appointed selection committee after its first meeting in Delhi.
The new All-India Senior Selection Committee, led by former wicketkeeper MSK Prasad that was chosen on September 21, will perform its first task on Thursday.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to be back as captain for the series beginning in Dharamsala on October 16.
Mayank Agarwal and Faiz Fazal could benefit because of the injuries to regular opener Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul.
Agarwal, who has scored runs for India A in a tri-nation tourney last year apart from heavy scoring in Duleep Trophy is likely to emerge as a strong candidate.
Left-handed Fazal scored a fifty on his ODI debut in Zimbabwe.
Manish Pandey is expected to retain his place in the side and so are young pacers Barinder Sran and Jasprit Bumrah.
It remains to be seen whether Gautam Gambhir, who was included in the Test squad, would make a comeback in the limited overs.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are automatic choices and third spinner's slot could go to Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Amit Mishra after the former's impressive run in Zimbabwe.
Will Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh, the senior players who were dropped from the T20 squad for the two-match series against the West Indies in USA, make a comeback?
India last fielded a full-fledged squad in Australia where they lost the five-match series 1-4. In June, Dhoni led a second string side to Zimbabwe.
The first ODI between India and New Zealand will be played in Dharamsala on October 16. The five-match series ends in Visakhapatnam on October 29.
Virat Kohli-led Team India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead after winning the first two games. The third and final Test begins on Saturday in Indore.
