Chennai Super Kings' prolific batsman Suresh Raina is likely to miss the next game against Kings XI Punjab after the southpaw suffered a calf injury.
During Chennai's sensational win against Kolkata Knight Riders, Raina was uncomfortable while completing a single in the 10th over. Although he limped off while completing the single, it was clear that he was in ample amount of pain.
The support staff provided him some relief but Raina's stay at the crease ended shortly after that. The Chennai star is yet to make an impression in this edition as he has managed scores of only 4 and 14 against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata respectively.
Although the medical team is monitoring Raina's fitness, reports suggest that he has been ruled out for at least 10 days. Chennai's injury woes continues to deepen as they have already lost Kedar Jadhav and even experienced opener Murali Vijay is still recovering from sore ribs.
Earlier, David Willey has signed up with the Super Kings as a replacement for the injured Jadhav.
Jadhav was ruled out due to an injury after featuring in Chennai's opening game against Mumbai. Willey, an England international, is a left-arm medium pacer and a batsman, who has featured in 34 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 20 T20 Internationals.
Chennai Super Kings’ next game in the VIVO IPL 2018 is against Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on April 15.
