Investigation officer in Pistorius' girlfriend's death case facing murder charges

The investigating officer in the murder case of Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp case has seven charges of attempted murder against him, according to the South African police.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Brigadier Neville Malila said in is one case detective Hilton Botha is facing seven charges of attempted murder, News24 reports.

Malila added Botha was first charged back in 2009 but the charges were then provisionally withdrawn, adding the matter was then referred to the director of public prosecutions (DPP).

Malila further said it was only on Wednesday that they were informed by the DPP that he is being charged.

Malila said Botha allegedly fired shots at a minibus as he tried to stop it, adding the minibus had seven occupants in it.

Botha is the investigating officer in the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, who was allegedly killed by Pistorius on Valentine's Day, and he has already testified in Pistorius' bail hearing. (ANI)
