KKR vs DD Result: Knight Riders beat Daredevils by 6 wickets<br>

It was frustrating watching the Chennai Super Kings game on television rather than being out on the park with the boys and it was even more frustrating that we ended up making the same mistakes with the batting that have really plagued our IPL6 season.

To restrict Chennai, a very strong batting unit, to 168 was a pretty good effort I thought. We might have made a few little mistakes, but in general the bowlers battled hard and kept the tournament leaders to what was definitely a gettable total.

What we failed to do was then build a proper platform and that’s what all the winning teams have been doing this tournament. You need to protect wickets, build a foundation and then accelerate in the second half of the innings with wickets to spare.

Unfortunately, right throughout the season, we’ve tended to lose wickets in the first six overs and that has prevented us from establishing a platform and securing us momentum. The same thing happened against Chennai and David (Warner) was left trying to hold things together without solid support.

I am not sure why things have not gone as expected with our batting. We’ve obviously missed Kevin Pietersen, but the loss of one player, admittedly a star-class batsman, cannot be an excuse. All the batsmen, myself included, are disappointed to have let our bowlers down too often.

Tonight provides us a further opportunity to play better. While we are out of the competition that does not mean the tournament is over for us. We all want to do well for the franchise and the fans and try to show a bit of pride and character in our final two matches.

Hopefully the stunning setting of today’s game in Dharmasala, an incredibly picturesque stadium in a very spiritual corner of India, will provide us with the inspiration we need to beat Kings XI. They will be in good spirits after defeating Royal Challengers, but our focus must be on our performance only.
