Bhuvi, as he is fondly known had a great start to his Test career in England where he impressed with both bat and ball. Bhuvi can swing the new ball both ways and even though he doesn’t have much pace, he maintains a good line and length. Bhuvi’s lower order batting has also been a revelation as he has a decent technique and is capable of scoring useful runs down the order. The Indian coach, Anil Kumble has stated that he wants his lower order batsmen to contribute with the bat and that is a feather in Bhuvi’s cap. However, the all-rounder from Uttar Pradesh is unlikely to feature in the playing XI in the first Test given that Kohli has a liking for genuine pace bowlers.
