Australian legend Ricky Ponting and Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar have already started planning Mumbai Indians' strategy in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season through text messages.
Ponting was picked up by Tendulkar's franchise for 400,000 dollars in the IPL auction last week, the Age reports.
It caused one Indian media outlet to describe the pair playing together, and possibly opening the innings, as an unprecedented miracle.
Ponting said he had sent Tendulkar a message as soon as the auction was over just to say that he was looking forward to playing with him.
Ponting added the little master sent a message back straight away saying the same thing, adding it would be great fun for us to play together.
The former Australian captain further said they have played a lot against each other over the years and spent a little bit of time together off the field.
Ponting added he thinks he can still learn a fair bit from Tendulkar, and was hopeful the Indian great could take few tips from him as well.
Ponting has embraced Twenty20 cricket after playing a full tournament for the first time, the Big Bash League with the Hobart Hurricanes.
The former Australian captain says he's still undecided about whether he'll play more domestic and T20 cricket next season.
