Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 42 off 44 deliveries as New Zealand bundled out India for 318 in their first innings of the first Test on Day two at Kanpur.
Resuming the day at 277 for the loss of nine wickets, Jadeja scored boundaries to help India get past the 300-run mark. Neil Wagner dismissed Umesh Yadav for 9 to close out India's innings.
India will now bank on their spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as with the pitch showing signs of turn, the spin twins will eye to dismantle the New Zealand batting line-up.
India might be 30 runs short but given the conditions on offer, New Zealand will have to bat well to get close to India's first innings total.
