Anant Gaundalkar

1 – Instance of two Sri Lankan players scoring centuries in the same innings in India as Tillakaratne Dilshan (112) and Mahela Jayawardene (204 batting) achieved the feat. The duo also provided the third instance of two centuries from Lankan players in a Test match in India, after Duleep Mendis (105 & 105) scored in both innings at Chennai in 1982 and Marvan Atapattu (108) & Aravinda de Silva (110*) at Mohali in 1997.

6 – Double hundreds have been scored by Mahela Jayawardene in 108 tests. In the process, he became only the seventh player to score six or more double centuries in a test career after Donald Bradman (12), Brian Lara (9), Walter Hammond (7), and tied with Kumar Sangakkara, Javed Miandad and Marvan Atapattu (6 each).

Sri Lanka ride high on Jayawardene's double ton

27 – Number of centuries scored by Mahela Jayawardene in 108 matches. Among the active cricketers, he is the fourth highest century-maker after Sachin Tendulkar (42), Ricky Ponting (38), Jacques Kallis (31) and tied with Rahul Dravid (27).

216 – Runs added by Mahela Jayawardene and Prasanna Jayawardene during their unbroken partnership. It is a record for Sri Lanka for the sixth wicket. They surpassed the previous highest stand of 189 by Aravinda de Silva and Arjuna Ranatunga against Zimbabwe at Colombo in 1998.

591 – Number of runs scored by Sri Lanka for the loss of just five wickets. It is their highest score in India surpassing their previous highest score of 420 at Kanpur in India in 1986. They are all set to become only the fourth team to notch up more than 600 runs in an innings in India tomorrow. West Indies (five times), England and New Zealand (once each) are the only countries to accomplish this landmark so far.
