London: Formula One world champions Brawn GP have been taken over by Mercedes, parent company Daimler said on Monday. Brawn GP won the championship in its debut season at the Brazilian Grand Prix last month.

Mercedes said McLaren had bought back the German company's stake in the Working-based team but added the two would still co-operate over engines for the next six F1 seasons.
"The agreement covers the next six Formula One seasons (2010-15) and also provides mechanisms whereby the partnership may continue beyond 2015," McLaren said in a statement.
