The Mumbai-Hyderabad game on Monday should be an intriguing clash since it gives the Hyderabad team the chance to win their last away game, and for Mumbai it is an opportunity to pretty much cement a place in the top two.

As has been said earlier, being in the top two means that the teams get one more crack at getting into the finals even if they lose the first knockout game, since that game is between the top two finishers in the league.

Both teams have played some fine cricket especially in their last few games. Mumbai have come on really strongly with all their departments looking sharp.

The batting is coming good with Rohit Sharma in top form and the bowling variety is such that the opposition batsmen don’t find it easy taking them apart. The fielding which is a bit on the ponderous side because of the age factor has also picked up, particularly the catching, and that is always a big boost to the bowlers.

Having pretty much made sure of qualifying for the playoffs, the Mumbai team unveiled their million dollar baby Glenn Maxwell, and while he didn’t do much, he made sure that he ended up on the winning side.

When that happens then not too much of an autopsy is done and most teams just look forward to the next game and begin preparations for them.

The Hyderabad team has not had a great away record this season but against the Punjab team they were magnificent, as their bowlers once again skittled the strong batting for nothing.

Darren Sammy reaped the rewards of batsmen attempting to break free after a tight opening spell by Dale Steyn. The Hyderabad fielding is a bit of a worry since they are putting down sitters and the extra run gets conceded as fielders are not attacking the ball.

Mumbai have a good record at home but if Hyderabad do manage to spring a surprise, then they give themselves a great chance since their last two games will be at home.
