Tiger Woods

I grew up idolizing Annika Sorenstam and Tiger Woods. I think each one of us professionals on the Tour drive an equivalent distance. But it is the sheer determination to win that separates the winners from the “also ran” ones.

Being the brand ambassador of the Indian leg of the Audi Quattro Cup has given me a chance to meet some of the biggest decision makers in the corporate world. While their game does not match the calibre of Annika or Tiger, the zeal and enthusiasm was no less than that of the champions themselves.

I like the format of the Audi Quattro Cup which is a bit unique. A team is paired on a random basis thus giving two unknown players a chance to be friends forever. While on the course, the greensome stableford format ensures that the players have fun without losing the competitive spirit.

I contribute by driving for every team and I must confess that most of the teams have used my shot. The cheers and jeers during the felicitation bring out the kid in everybody. Turkey, the venue for the National final of the Indian leg of the Audi Quattro Cup, is a great golfing destination and I do hope to join the finalists.

I have always believed that aspiration leads to success in every walk of life. I aspired to be the No.1 golfer of the country and worked towards it, and after having achieved that, now I aspire to be No.1 in Asia, Europe and even the world. I have taken the first steps by qualifying for the Ladies European Tour again this year, and hopefully should end the year on a high note.

Travelling is not new as it is a part of my career. Being a professional, I have learnt to live out of a suitcase. However the five cities that I have travelled to thus far – Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Mumbai – make me feel that I have touched every part of the country.

I was overwhelmed by the admiration shown by these business leaders. It was the common passion for golf that united us. My professional commitments do not allow me to travel to every leg of the multi-city event but I am trying my best to attend the maximum number of events.

Coming back to my aspirations, I have always dreamt of owning a car which is sleek and stylish yet robust in performance. I was in Germany playing an event on the LET, where Audi was a partner and we were asked to choose a car for the week. I immediately chose an R8 Spyder and satiated my penchant for speed on the Autobahns where there is no speed limit.

It was an experience to remember. Back home, I just drove the new Audi Q5 and have fallen in love with the machine. Hopefully, my garage should boast of one soon!
