Our confidence has been dented: Ross Taylor

Knight Riders thrash Rajasthan Royals

The confidence was obviously dented a bit after the back to back defeats to the Knight Riders, but it is a matter of getting one win under our belt and we should be back on track. It is not about the start, but about how well we finish the tournament that is vital and we all realize that.

This is one of the advantages of playing in a tournament where the teams need to play a game every other day; there isn't too much time to brood over the losses and we all know that we need to move on from them. It also gives us an immediate chance at redemption, to be able to rectify our mistakes and get back into the groove.

'Indian women's team also deserves an IPL'

The injuries to Johan and Rahul before the game at Eden Gardens did not help, but in professional sports, these things do happen. In turn, it gave a couple of other guys the opportunity to feature in the game.

The decision around Rahul and Johan's availability will be taken on the morning of the game, allowing them the time to recover from their respective injuries. Defending 81 was always going to border on the improbable on a pitch that was reasonably good to bat on. You try to take away as many positives as you can from the game and I would say that credit must be given to the way our bowlers fought hard before succumbing to the lack of runs.

Interestingly, we play Royal Challengers Bangalore next, which is the former team for both Rahul and me, and both of us have spoken about how it would feel to play at the M Chinnaswamy with the crowds baying for our opponents! I had a good time with the Royal Challengers during the last three seasons but in a way, it would be good to be able to help Rajasthan to a win against them.

Royal Challengers Bangalore may have changed things around with the squad, but Ray Jennings and Anil Kumble are still part of the think-tank. They are a formidable pair but it also adds that extra edge to the contest, where you want to do well for yourself and the team. Royal Challengers Bangalore also come into the game with three losses in a row and playing at home could put them under pressure, something that we would like to take advantage of.

Well bowled, he said....

I missed out against Kolkata with the bat but having the knowledge of how the track plays in Bangalore should keep me in a good stead. Last season, there was a lot of bounce and carry at the M Chinnaswamy pitch, which was helpful to not only the pace bowlers but also assisted us in playing our strokes. The pitches here were also high-scoring in the World Cup and that should make for some exciting times for the fans here.
