Controversial England batsman Kevin Pietersen is likely to sign a new central contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday, and team coach Andy Flowers hopes to move forward after ending the long dragged row.

"There will be a press conference on the topic. Then, at least, the formal, legal side of things that has been ongoing for weeks, will be behind us, and we can move forward," The Telegraph quoted Flower, as saying.

Pietersen, who has been commentating on the World Twenty20, is expected to attend a press conference on Wednesday held by Giles Clarke, the Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board

With Clarke by his side, Pietersen is expected to make a public apology for his recent behaviour, which included sending provocative texts about Andrew Strauss, the then England captain, to South African players.

Flower added: "You always want to draw lines under situations such as this, but it's not as simple as that. But, if we can get the formal stuff out of the way, we can move on to the day-to-day team stuff."

"I always think that it's dangerous to try and recapture what you've had in the past. Things are always in a state of flux, and you move on, and you learn from what experiences you've had, and you evolve. We try to move on and be stronger and better and wiser than before," Flower said.
