[UAE], Mar 06 (ANI): Quetta Gladiators have sealed their place in the top two of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with a crushing 43-run win over Islamabad United on Tuesday.
Islamabad won the toss and asked Quetta to bat first. Ahmed Shehzad led the way with a 46 ball knock of 73 enabling the team to post 180 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets.
Shane Watson(15), Rilee Rossouw (23) and Umar Akmal (27) all chipped in with handy runs to take the team to a safe total.
Islamabad United had high hopes from their captain Luke Ronchi and he did not let his team down as he kept the hopes alive for his team by playing a 64 run knock off just 43 deliveries.
But as soon as he departed, the wickets started to tumble and Islamabad could only manage 137 runs, in the end, falling short off the target by 43 runs.
Islamabad as a result of this loss will now find it hard to qualify for the playoffs. they currently stand on the third position at the league table with just 4 wins from 9 matches.
Quetta Gladiators next take on Karachi Kings on March 10 whereas Islamabad United next play Lahore Qalandars on March 9. (ANI)
