Saina, who was recently awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, had lost in the quarterfinal of the same tournament last year to China's Wang Lin but is expected to make further inroads this time.
Her remarkable progress in the last few months, during which she won the Indian Open, Singapore Open and Indonesian Open, was also recognised by her being named captain of the Indian contingent to Paris.
