Jasprit Bumrah, the joint highest wicket-taker of the just concluded Test series Down Under, has been rested for the upcoming ODIs against Australia and New Zealand.
Bumrah has been rested for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand as well, a BCCI release said on Tuesday.
Mohammed Siraj has named as Bumrah's replacement for the ODIs in Australia and New Zealand, while Siddarth Kaul has been drafted into the squad for the T20 Internationals.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to rest India pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the forthcoming ODI series against Australia and the tour in New Zealand.
"Keeping in mind the work load of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia. Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah in the squad for the Australia and New Zealand tour," BCCI said in a statement.
"Siddarth Kaul has also been drafted into the squad for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand," BCCI added.
India are slated to play their first ODI against Australia on January 12 in Sydney, followed by the second ODI on January 15 in Adelaide and the third ODI being on January 18 in Melbourne.
Following that, India travel to New Zealand for a 5-match ODI series, starting January 23. The tour will end with three T20Is, starting February 10.
