South Africa Cricketers' Association (CSA) Chief Executive Officer Tony Irish has called for revamping the corporate governance structure in the sport.
"We believe cricket sorely needs a restoration of stakeholder confidence and public confidence. One of the ways in which this could be achieved is by having a proper independent expert review of the corporate governance structure with particular focus on the board of directors," Sport24 quoted Irish, as saying.
Irish said the CSA should follow the International Cricket Council's example in revamping its structure.
He said the current structure of CSA did not facilitate easy decision-making, and fuelled the politicisation in the organization.
"Whatever structure is then recommended as being appropriate for the organisation, we then believe the board should be required to implement those recommendations," Irish said.
"We as the players and stakeholders in the game hope that it is one of the outcomes of this committee," he added. (ANI)
