Bloemfontein: South Africa thumped Pakistan by 125 runs in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Chasing a hefty target of 316, Pakistan were bundled out for 190 in the 37th over.

Rory Kleinveldt grabbed four wickets and Ryan McLaren three as the fragile Pakistani batting order collapsed yet again.

Earlier Colin Ingram hit an unbeaten century to propel South Africa to a total of 315 for four and set Pakistan a tough target to chase.

Scorecard

Ingram finished with 105 off 104 balls as he and Farhaan Behardien battered the bowlers in a sparkling 50-run unbeaten partnership at the end of the innings.

Behardien's swashbuckling 34 off 14 balls threatened to steal the limelight and deny Ingram the strike and a chance to reach his ton as the innings neared a close.

But the 27-year-old Ingram drove the first ball of the last over away for a four to bring up his third one day century, hitting it between mid-off and cover to the delight of the fans.

Ingram and captain AB de Villiers put together a 120-run partnership for the third wicket after Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla had laid a decent foundation but then got out in quick succession.

De Villiers was caught for 65 trying to go over extra cover off Saeed Ajmal, who took two of the wickets.

Smith was caught behind off his gloves for 30 and Amla top edged to deep square leg for 43 as all the South African batsmen got among the runs.
