Statistical highlights of India-West Indies first Test

New Delhi: Statistical highlights on the fourth day of the first Test between India and West Indies at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Wednesday.

# VVS Laxman (58 not out off 105 balls) has recorded his 11th fifty against the West Indies - his 55th in Tests.

# In second innings, Laxman is averaging 50.19 - 3338 runs in 103 Tests.

# Laxman enjoys an excellent record in Indian victories in the fourth innings, totalling 402 runs (ave.100.50) in eight innings, four times not out, including one hundred and three fifties.

# Ashwin became the third Indian after Pravin Amre and RP Singh and the 29th overall to be adjudged the Man of the Match on Test debut.

# India have recorded their first win over West Indies in seven Tests at Feroz Shah Kotla.

# Sachin Tendulkar (76 off 148 balls) has posted his 62nd fifty in Tests - an Indian record, bettering Rahul Dravid's tally of 61. Allan Border (63) holds a record for most fifties in Tests.



# Sachin is the top run-scorer at Feroz Shah Kotla, totalling 726 runs in 9 Tests at an average of 45.37, including two hundreds and four fifties. He has overtaken Dilip Vengsarkar's tally of 671 in eight Tests at an average of 67.10 including four centuries and one fifty.

# India's five-wicket victory is their 13th over West Indies in 86 Tests, having Lost 30 & Drawn 43 - success per cent 15.11

# Since winning by 155 runs against India at Kingston in May 2002, they have failed to win a single Test during the last eleven meetings against India in Tests.

# India (276/5) have registered their highest successful chase in the fourth innings of a Test match at Feroz Shah Kotla, surpassing the 203 for four against Pakistan in November 2007. They have equalled West Indies' successful run-chase of 276 for five in the fourth innings at this venue in 1987-88.

# The aforesaid total is India's third highest successful chase in the fourth innings of a Test match - the highest being 406 for four vs West Indies at Port of Spain in April 1976.

# With a win over West Indies, India have won 16 Tests out of 32 contested under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership - winning per cent 50.00 (Lost 7 and Drawn 9).

# Rahul Dravid enjoys a superb record in Indian wins, amassing 5012 at an average of 65.09 in 55 Tests, including 14 centuries and 23 fifties. He became the seventh player and the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar (5556) to record the feat.

# Tendulkar, during the course of his match-winning knock, has set a record for most runs in the fourth innings in Tests, aggregating 1515 (ave.39.86) in 53 innings, including three centuries and seven fifties. Rahul Dravid (1507 runs at an average of 41.86, including one hundred and nine fifties in 54 innings) had held the record previously.

# Tendulkar is a record holder now for most runs in team second innings, totalling 4410 at an average of 45.00 in 121 innings, including 13 centuries and 21 fifties, obliterating Allan Border's tally of 4371 at an average of 54.63 in 132 matches.
