Stats: Can Tamil Nadu pocket the Ranji Trophy title?

2 - Number of times Tamil Nadu has managed to bag the Ranji Trophy championships: in 1954-55 & 1987-88. On the other hand, they finished runner-up on eight occasions during 1935-36, 1940-41, 1967-68, 1972-73, 1991-92, 1995-96, 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. They will be meeting Rajasthan for the first time in the final.

2 - Number of players who have scored more than 800 runs in the current Ranji Trophy season. They are from rival finalist teams Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Robin Bist of Rajasthan made 885 runs with four centuries & two fifties at an average of 88.50 while Abhinav Mukund of Tamil Nadu has aggregated 871 runs which contained two tons & three fifties @ 87.10.

10 - Number of times Rajasthan has made it to Ranji Trophy finals. Last year, after becoming the only team from the Plate group to reach the final, they bagged their maiden title. On all other eight instances, they finished runners-up: in 1960-61, 1961-62, 1962-63, 1963-64 (four years in succession), 1965-66, 1966-67, 1969-70 & 1973-74. Thus they have reached the finals for the second year running.

32 - Number of wickets claimed by Rajasthan's Pankaj Singh is the highest tally for his team in the on-going championships. In nine matches so far, he has accomplished it at an average of 30.40 and economy rate of 2.83 with two 5WI hauls. Last year, he had captured 43 wickets @ 21.74 from nine matches.
