Chennai: Only clinching the seven-match One Day International series against Australia will be not enough and Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men will have to perform more consistently to achieve the numero uno status, feels World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev.
Security arrangements impress Aussies
Kapil, who led the country to glory in 1983 World Cup in England, however, was not much worried about India's listless performance in the Champions Trophy in South Africa.
"I know they haven't played well during the last few months. But if they want to become number one in the world, the team have to win a lot of matches," Kapil said on the sideline of a function in the city.
Seven ODIs against India are too many: Ponting
"I hope India also win the one-day series against the Australians," he added.
