India vs Pakistan, Wills World Cup-2nd Quarter-Final, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, 9th March 1996
It was that match where a charismatic Ajay Jadeja became a national hero. After a slow start, Jadeja launched a breathtaking assault on Waqar Younis as India looted 51 runs off the last 3 overs to post 287/8. In reply, Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail put the Indian opening bowlers to the sword. Then came an unsavory incident that is typical of clashes between the two teams. Sohail had just hit Venkatesh Prasad for a boundary and mocked and taunted him by waving his bat and pointing to an area where he was going to hit him next. However, Prasad bowled Sohail off the very next delivery and gave him a fitting send off to the pavilion. That wicket gave India the opening they needed and the men in blue went on to win the match by 39 runs.
