Tom Daley's new diving show 'Splash' station chiefs are terrified that viewing figures will fall after celebrities and fans rubbished the show as ridiculous.
More than six million viewers tuned in to Saturday night's first live show, to see the 18-year-old Olympic medallist teach a host of celebs how to dive like him.
But fans blasted the format, which showed five famous faces dive in, scenes that took less than five minutes, despite the show lasting one-and-a-half hours, the Daily Star reported.
Viewers also slammed the camera work and the decision to have chubby comedian Jo Brand, 55, on the panel of "experts."
Twitter users cheekily suggested that it would be a better show if ITV bosses put sharks in the pool - or removed the water.
The hit out after watching Sugababe Jade Ewen, 24, 'Benidorm' star Jake Canuso, comedian Helen Lederer, 58, TV presenter Jenni Falconer, 36, and 47-year-old comedian Omid Djalili, being tutored by Daley are:
Actress Jennifer Saunders, 54, tweeted: "Not good ITV. V poor."
TV presenter Tim Lovejoy, 44, said: "Whats going on? Is the joke on me?"
And X Factor's Katie Weasel, 26, joked: "This show could be vastly improved with the addition of two Great White Sharks."
Another viewer wrote in a TV blog: "They couldmake Splash a lot more entertaining by taking away the bloody water.
"ITV has sunk to new depths (excuse the pun). Utter nonsense," the viewer wrote. (ANI)
