Kolkata: Deccan Chargers' skipper VVS Laxman is impressed with Brendon Mccullum's scorcher of a knock and said they have devised a plan to contain the dangerous batsman as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL encounter Sunday.

"I think it was an amazing innings. One of the best innings I have seen in this format of the game. The way he played he took away the game from the Bangalore Royal Challengers," said Deccan Chargers' skipper VVS Laxman in the customary match-eve media meet.

Laxman said McCullum, who plundered 78-ball 158 runs Friday, is in their mind but said the on-field strategy would be finalised according to the match situation.

"We've got our plans worked out for him. But one has to keep in mind the fast-changing situations in Twenty20 cricket. You may have a plan one or plan two. But you have to keep judging by the situation you are in," said the 34-year-old stylish batsman.

Former Indian wicket-keeper Farookh Engineer, himself a flamboyant batsman in his playing days, termed McCullum's knock as 'incredible'. "He played a great innings. He is a strokeful lad," said the Lanchashire-based Engineer, who played 46 Test matches for India during his 14-year international career from 1961.

Engineer, in the city as an IPL match referee, said the batting prowess of stumpers like M S Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist and Mccullum was a testimony to the fact that the role of wicket-keeper had changed in modern day cricket.
