Working to improve fitness after shifting from ICL: Razzaq

It has been a perfect switch from the rebel Indian Cricket League to the mainstream for Abdul Razzaq but the Pakistani all-rounder on Thursday said the transition has not been easy as being away from international circuit for almost two years has affected his fitness.

The all-rounder made a successful comeback to the team in the World Twenty20 taking three key wickets with the new ball in the final against Sri Lanka.

"I would say it was a satisfying comeback but it is not easy shifting from ICL to international cricket. There is a big difference. I am now working hard on my fitness and hopefully by the end of the tour of Sri Lanka I would be back to my best fitness standards," he said.

"I missed playing for Pakistan. The ICL was one way of satisfying my passion for cricket. It also helped me financially but I think in hindsight I would not repeat the same mistake," he added.

Razzaq was one of the first players to join the ICL in late 2007 after announcing his retirement from international cricket, a decision he later took back.

Razzaq said the last few days have been a dream come true for him.

"Just two months ago I was banned and could not play for Pakistan. I am happy that the players have welcomed me back warmly and the captain, coach and manager have been a big help in easing my comeback to the dressing room. It was great to be wearing Pakistan colours again," he said.
