Hypnosis 'may work like anaesthetic to ease pain' Hypnosis could be used more widely for pain relief, including in major surgeries, for people who have adverse reactions to anaesthesia, a psychiatrist has claimed.
Bob Large of the Auckland Regional Pain Service said that about 10 to 15 percent of the population was hypnotisable.
He said the technique had been used in Australia, citing the case of an Adelaide doctor who used hypnosis as an analgesic
