UK's former RAF air base at Machrihanish sold for 1 pound
The former Royal Air Force (RAF) airbase at Machrihanish on Kintyre Peninsula has been sold for a pound.
The buyer is a company owned and controlled by local people, who hope the site can help revive the local economy near Campbeltown.
The airbase, which was initially owned by the UK's Ministry of Defence, was a strategically important site during the Cold War.
