Mixed response to bandh, violence reported
The nationwide bandh called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) affected normal life in several parts of the country, mostly the states ruled by Opposition parties.
Though the NDA said that the protest against increase in price of petrol would be peaceful, there were several instances of protesters turning violent. There were reports of pelting stones at traffic,
