Haridwar stampede toll touches 20
The death toll from Tuesday's stampede at Haridwar, where massive crowds had gathered on the banks of the Ganges for a five-day ritual that began on Sunday, touched 20 on Wednesday.As many as four lakh devotees were believed to have descended on Haridwar for the event that sought propagate the Gayatri Mantra when tragedy struck on Tuesday turning scenes of piety and devotion into devastation.
