Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister on Friday pegged the estimates of the Amphan cyclone damage to the state at Rs 1 lakh crores.
CM Mamata Banerjee announced the numbers after conducting an aerial survey of the affected areas and attending a review meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
There is a need to work together at this time of crisis, she said.
77 individuals have been left dead due to the severely extreme cyclone while large-scale damage has been reported in areas of North and South 24 Parganas. West and East Midnapore, Kolkata, Howrah and Hoogly also remained as most hit districts.
An interim assistance package of Rs 1,000 crore has been announced for the state by the centre.
