Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal has ordered an inquiry into allegations of irregularity in PM-Kisan scheme.
Allegations came into public after complaints over State Agriculture department's inefficiencies in selecting beneficiaries for PM-Kisan scheme. Agriculture minister Atul Bora ordered an inquiry and placed District Agricultural Officer Barpeta under suspension.
All Assam Students Union claims that the scam involves siphoning off money involved for welfare of lakhs of farmers.
After the CM's call, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of districts have been directed to verify genuineness of beneficiary lists, eligibility of beneficiaries, authentication of bank account details and check duplicity in data entry.
DCs have also been directed to stop further release of payments under the scheme till the preparation of correct beneficiary list with authenticated bank accounts after deletion of doubtful entries.
