A nation of over 130 crores, and a budget season that carries with itself the tag of being a solution-time. If not solution-time, then there is a perception of Feb 1 being the time to instill reforms into a sagging economy.
And with the arrival of Feb 1, there are umpteen questions. Puzzles could be a more apt word. For fashion trackers and trivia hunters - will it be the longest budget, a budget with the largest collection of artistic words, will she quip Thirukural? What literary phrases will the budget bring back to life? Will Madam Sitharaman sport the baahi-khaata again?
And then some serious Puzzles- Will 2020 budget empower the country's women? Will it create more jobs? Are our taxes rational? Are issues related to GSTR form filing resolved? Can Budget uplift the odd to sustainability? Will the country's corporate have something to chuckle about? Will the budget instill confidence among investors? Phew! If wishes were horses beggars would ride, but if Ms Sitharaman cracks a 10 on 10 on Feb 1, the seekers may as well hail a cab.
Its 2020, and the challenges seem to get a tad complicated. A country that demands of everything from the typical tax sops to being fiscally prudent, being the Finance Minister means being able to solve at least these following 9 puzzles. Here's a look at some of those puzzles.
