Nagpur: The bad tea that they were forced to have regularly when they were engineers inspired a couple quit their careers and start a tea shop in Nagpur.
Nitin Biyani and wife Pooja, who worked in Pune as software engineers and were earning Rs 15 lakh a year, left their cushy jobs behind and opened Chai Villa, Refresh yourself in Nagpur five months ago.
"I had been working for 10 years as an engineer in companies like IBM and Cognizant, but my wife and I wanted to something different in life so we started this shop.
"We now sell over 2000 cups of tea daily and this has meant that we now earn up to Rs 5 lakh every month - more than what we ever did as engineers ," Nitin claims.
"Chai Villa sells more than fifteen types of tea, and coffee too. The shop offers various kinds of snacks too and also takes orders through WhatsApp and Zomato. The stall also has special containers for delivering tea in offices, banks, and hospitals. We have also hired a lot of people and want to expand our chain," he added.
"Every sip of the chai and coffee you drink at Chai villa will remind you of the taste Mamma ke hath ki chai. Our chai is made using mineral water, rich milk, premium chai pathis (tea leaves) with some great spices and natural ingredients like ginger, cardamom, dal-chini, lavang etc. By also providing the option to have chai in a kulhad, we offer a desi touch too," Nitin says.
He adds that he is now looking to expand the chain across India and scouting for investors.
