The 59 Chinese apps blocked for Indian users by the Ministry of Information and Technology have been confirmed as unavailable to Indian users. On Thursday, a confirmation to this regards by offered by Google India which said that it had temporarily blocked access to the apps. These apps were previously available for download and use on the Android Play Store.
The Indian government had said that it would take some time for individual stores such as iOS and Android Play Store to confirm the directive announced on Monday.
India banned 59 apps with Chinese links, including TikTok, UC Browser, SHAREit and WeChat, saying they were prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.
"While we continue to review the interim orders from the Government of India, we have notified the affected developers and have temporarily blocked access to the apps that remained available on the Play Store in India," a Google spokesperson said.
However, the spokesperson did not disclose details of the apps that Google had blocked. Some media reports highlight many developers as voluntarily having removed their apps from the Google Play Store.
The Apple play store is also learned as having blocked access to all the 59 apps for Indian users.
The apps that have been banned are: TikTok, Shareit, Kwai, UC Browser, Baidu map, Shein, Clash of Kings, DU battery saver, Helo, Likee, YouCam makeup, Mi Community, CM Browers, Virus Cleaner, APUS Browser, ROMWE, Club Factory, Newsdog, Beutry Plus, WeChat, UC News, QQ Mail, Weibo, Xender, QQ Music, QQ Newsfeed, Bigo Live, SelfieCity, Mail Master, Parallel Space, Mi Video Call – Xiaomi, WeSync, ES File Explorer, Viva Video – QU Video Inc, Meitu, Vigo Video, New Video Status, DU Recorder, Vault- Hide, Cache Cleaner DU App studio, DU Cleaner, DU Browser, Hago Play With New Friends, Cam Scanner, Clean Master – Cheetah Mobile, Wonder Camera, Photo Wonder, QQ Player, We Meet, Sweet Selfie, Baidu Translate, Vmate, QQ International, QQ Security Center, QQ Launcher, U Video, V fly Status Video, Mobile Legends, and DU Privacy.
