Rajan Anandan, Google India's Country Director has reportedly stepped down from his post.
Besides serving as Country Director, the 51 year old Anandan had been responsible for bringing cool services from Google into India. The departure for Google's vice president for India and South East Asia would pull the curtains off an eight year long stint.
In a note, Scott Beaumont, President for Google Asia Pacific has been quoted saying, "We are grateful to Rajan for his huge contribution to Google over the past eight years. His entrepreneurial zeal and leadership has helped grow the overall internet ecosystem in India and Southeast Asia, and we wish him all the best in his new adventures."
Anandan's career with Google began in 2010. Besides Google, he has also worked with Microsoft, Dell India and McKinsey & Company. Anandan, is also a prolific angel investor in the country and is a member of the Indian Angel network. Some of his investments include WebEngage, Instamojo, Capillary Technologies, TravelKhana, and EasyGov.
In July 2016, Anandan had backed BOV Capital, touted to be Sri Lanka's first early-stage venture capital fund. It had launched a maiden Rs 100-crore early-stage fund to invest in technology-focused startups from Sri Lanka.
Anandan, is expected to stay until the end of the month. With his exit, Google has pulled Vikas Agnihotri, the current Director for Sales to serve the interim responsibility.
