New Delhi: The Telecom regulatory authority of India's latest data reveals the pain and the gain made by Indian telecom operators. The pain according to the data released for the month of February is acute solely for Vodafone Idea Limited.
For the month of February 2020, landline and mobile users rose to 118 crores - growing 0.32 percent on a month-to-month basis. All telecom players except Vodafone-Idea limited contributed to the surge. Reliance Jio was on a song adding 62.57 lakh subscribers with a total user-base of 38.28 crores. Bharti Airtel was second best adding 9.2 lakh users with a tally of 32.90 crore users.
Even, state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited added 4.39 lakh users. Vodafone Idea Limited, in stark contrast lost 34.67 lakh subscribers.
With this, Reliance Jio has held onto its top status with its wireless market-share of 32.9 percent. Bharti Airtel holds 28.35 percent while Vodafone Idea holds 28 percent.
The latest data reveals Urban telephone subscription dipping to 66.1 crore although rural subscription rose to 51.9 crores.
The data also revealed increase in wireless subscribers to 116 crore users at a monthly growth rate of 0.36% and broadband growth of 1.15 percent to 68.1 crore users.
