Mumbai: Tata Motors, the manufacturers of passenger vehicles such as Tata Tiago and SUVs such as Nexon and Harrier are expected to hike the costs of their vehicles in the New Year .
Tata's price-hike is expected to commence from New Year onwards although BSVI policy is expected to commence only from Fool's day 2020 (1st April 2020). The PTI quoted Tata Motors' President Mayank Pareek blaming BSVI for the increase in vehicle costs.
"We are working on the calculations...normally if any change happens the prices go up by Rs 10,000-15,000. Now there are two things happening, one is BSVI and there is also pressure from rise in commodity prices," Pareek said.
A few days ago, Maruti Suzuki also reported of an increase in costs from January onwards. Other automakers such as Toyota, Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz are also reported as contemplating
Other vehicle manufacturers such as Hyundai and Honda are expected to announce their fares once the BSVI compliance kicks in from 1st April 2020.
