Gold considered the world's most rarest metals is also among the costliest of all metals. However, the cost has never dissuaded humans from crafting unbelievable things out of Gold. Many times, these unbelievable designs have turned absolute disasters and offbeat too. Here's a look at ten such bizarre and eccentric things made out of the yellow metal that Indians love so much.
Starting with the violin which would cost a bomb to bow.
Its not surprising to see centuries old Stridvarius violins sell for million bucks. A very serious Japanese music-connoiseur took his love for the violin to newer heights by ordering a violin made of Gold. The end result was one weighing at 30.8 pounds (14 kilos), slightly lighter than a cooking gas cylinder. Here's the violin seen at the Ginza Tanaka Jewellery shop in Tokyo on Sept. 30, 2015. Made by Ginza Tanaka, the violin was based on Yamaha's YVN500S Stradivarius-type violin. Very few have heard the music from this million dollar violin but we bet any violinst would not want the rosin hitting air.
Fortunately designers of this 150-million-yen (1.25 million USD) priced violin stuck with good ol basics for the strings and bow.
