The recent Pegasus scandal has brought some big names to the limelight. Many of them are biggies belonging to the Business domain.
For those unaware, Pegasus is a malware built by an Israeli surveillance technology firm NSO Group. As many as 16 news organizations such as The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Wire and Le Monde reported on the connection between the NSO Group and 50,000 mobile numbers.
The numbers which leaked suggest that the NSO Group may have been snooping on their activities. However, it is not conclusive as only a manual check of their phones can confirm if their privacy has been breached. Surprisingly, this exercise has been going around since 2016.
According to a list put up by The Wire, heads of government agencies such as the CBI besides leaders from the opposition party, academicians, journalists and even rights activists were found on the list. Of course that doesn't confirm a privacy breach, but here is a list of Indian businessmen who's numbers were found on the list.
