Aambala stars Vishal, Hansika, Ramya Krishnan, Santhanam, Kiran and many others and is being directed by Sundar C while Hip Hop Thamizha Aadhi makes his debut as the music composer. The soundtrack of Sundar C’s last release ‘Aranmanai’ was highly forgettable. But Aadhi’s ‘Aambala’ seems promising. Let’s find out how the album has turned out:

Vaa Vaa Vennila
Singers: Mohit Chauhan,Amrita Shekar
An absolute killer track! ‘Vaa Vaa Vennila’ is almost Bruno Mars-ish in its approach. Mohit Chauhan nails it with his wonderful diction and Amrita Shekar is a find to look out for. The electric guitar interludes propel the track to a great extent. The tune is very fresh and the westernized arrangements make this track a must listen!

Singer: Hip Hop Thamizha
The second best track of the album! ‘Pazhagikalaam’ is already popular thanks to the making video that was released few weeks back. The composer has explored the EDM genre to the maximum with this track and the quirky lyrics couple up, making the song instantly peppy!

Madras to Madurai
Singers: Kailash Kher,Vishnu Priya,Maria Roe Vincent
The fused kuthu! ‘Madras to Madurai’ is Aadhi’s fusion of kuthu and EDM with some foot-tapping interludes. The base of the tune is too nostalgic but the song is bound to have blazing dance on screen which might save this number. Kailash Kher’s Tamil diction ain’t helping things as well.

Aye Aye Aye
Singer: Hip Hop Thamizha
‘Aye Aye Aye’ is another peppy track that is pretty much on the same lines as ‘Pazhagikalaam’. Aadhi uses the word ‘penne’ one too many in his songs and at this rate, it is going to end up as his signature style. The track is filled with EDM templates and is fun-filled. If you liked ‘Pazhagiklaam’, this should also work!

Yaarenna Sonnalum
Singers: Kutle Khan,Anthony Dasan,Varun
‘Yaarenna Sonnalum’ is made on a relatively different genre in this album. Kutle Khan’s diction and pronunciation are definitely not helping the lyrics to get register. The tune has a certain earthiness to it and that’s what the USP of the track is. Aadhi has tried his hand exceedingly well in majestic percussion arrangements that accompany the vocals.

Inbam Pongum Vennila
Singer: Hip Hop Thamizha
‘Inbam Pongum’ is the mashup of the yesteryear classic number of the same name. At this point of time, monotony kicks in and this remix is adding no musical value to the album. Didn’t work for me!

On the whole, ‘Aambala’ is a highly energetic soundtrack through which Aadhi delivers some pulsating numbers. Most of the tracks are high EDM materials and one can surely say Aadhi has made an impressive debut.

Picks from the album: Vaa Vaa Vennila,Pazhagikalaam,Aye Aye Aye

Verdict: Aadhi makes a bright debut with pulsating numbers!
